“I can’t tell if your band sounds like Gods fighting or fucking…”

- Some Drunk Guy at our Show

Effendi is an original, hard rock power trio based in Los Angeles with a modern take on classic hard rock with influences including The Mars Volta, Black Sabbath and Soundgarden. Their sound leans heavy, with distorted guitar riffs and banshee vocals jostling over a locked in rhythm section. The band recently completed a 4-month sprint in the studio, resulting in a full-length album of 12 original songs. Sonically the album ranges from straight ahead thrash rock to blues-based groove, all while maintaining their signature sound.

The band got its start in the bowels of Orange County as the brainchild of singer/guitarist Tamur Yusifzai. Growing up as an American in the Middle East his musical intake ranged from guitar Gods like Hendrix to Blues to classical Arabic music, and he looked to distill these influences into a modern hard rock band. As a composer he pulled in elements from across these genres, which included heavy riffs, hypnotic grooves and searing blues solos. Lyrically the band explores themes of existentialism, life as an artist, and getting shot at in the Middle East.

The result was Effendi, which quickly developed a local underground following as the band tore its way through house parties, bars and well known venues like Molly Malones and Liquid Zoo. Armed with of a lineup of skillful session musicians, a professional team, financial backing a deep reservoir of songs, the band has its sights set on making their mark on the musical world.
